I have been dabbling in art all my life but didn't pick up a brush until Meatloaf put out his Bat Out Of Hell album back in around 1976. I just had to reproduce that cover. It wasn't bad for my first attempt and sold for a whopping $60.00. I don't know what became of the painting but if you ever come across it let me know. I would love to buy it back or at least get a photo of it.
I started in oil but was won over to acrylics because of their fast dry time but I really miss the easy blend of the oils. Fantasy art is my real love but I have been persuaded to do more mundane work for friends and family.

Below are a few of my favourites. I hope you enjoy them but remember the laws that bind.

Ill Wind's Bane. 18 x 24 Acrylic.
A local art guild banned this painting from being shown at a Toronto art exhibit. They said that the use of whips and a naked woman sent the wrong message. I'm guessing that the whips they mentioned were the tassels on this powerful woman's sword scabbard. I'm still not sure how a whip, even if it was a whip, would make this woman any less powerful.
Who ever needed proper context when painting the naked female form anyway? I could have given them one had they cared enough to ask though.
Oh the joys of living where, "if it ain't of an animal, a building, or a pioneer scene, it ain't art."

The initials of the wine club, UOVWS, are incorporated into the design. U is the bottom of the wine glass, the O is the outline of the base of the wine glass, The V and W are joined to make up a folding menu and the S is a stylized end of a serving tray.

I spent a lot of time designing this guitar for a contest in which a particular rock guitarist, Ron Thal, now Guns N Rose's Slash replacement, would choose a design he liked and then have two guitars made by Vigier, one for him and one for the designer. Unfortunately he failed to tell everyone that he didn't want the same theme of the guitar it was designed to replace. I am sure there are quite a few designers out there less than pleased with such a waste of their time.
Ive decided to make a guitar I want. If I don't win, I'll make it myself.

Many long hours of designing and computer drawing resulted in the "Sir Lancelot". It's not as polished as I would like but I didn't want to put any more time into it than was necessary for right now.

The guitar's strings are put on in reverse and tuning keys are hidden under the red shield plate on the guitar. Here also a whammy bar in the shape of a dagger is attached. The shield is hinged for quick and easy access.
The adding of the chainmail has no functional purpose by I envisioned this guitar being used and I think the wildly dangling ends of the mail would cast a shower of beautiful reflected light. It is remeniscent of long wildly flying hair that is a trademark of rockers.

On the back of the guitar is my Coat of Arms. This way the guitar can be displayed in any fashion and there will always be an attractive side out.
Update My design was not chosen by the guitarist, Ron Thal. I am still waiting to see the winning design. I will post it or link to it when I find it.

The creation of the Bumble Fairy for that guitar seemed a great idea for a wine label. I hadn't got around to a decent one for my raspberry wine so borrowed the idea and redrew it for this new purpose. I was pleased with the result which you can view on the Wine Labels page. Here is just Bum-Bell Fairy "Bum-bah-lina"

Christmas mail had to go out and I thought that there must be festive Fairies. She took quite awhile but several different pairs of wings later she finally appeared. I had started out with a Butt-Her-Fly Fairy in mind but a Bum-Bell Fairy is what I ended up with. What to call her though? That was a tough one.
"Candy Stripper"?, "Candy"?, "Candis"?. All would sound good but I used a less visible part of the image to name her. Say hello to "Miss Ell Toh. "And I will deny any inference that I designed the Mistletoe to hang directly over her rear to turn the entire meaning of the picture into "Kiss my butt". I wish I had thought of it but at least I percieved it immediately upon placing it there. I could hear my muse chuckle.

When Miss Ell Toh was finally seen by others I immediately receive a couple of remarks as to the extra clothing on this one. I struggled with that one myself and I guess I should have went with my gut instinct.
Behold a more... transparent Miss Ell Toh, more in keeping with her sisters.

St. Patrick's Day is celebrated as much, if not more, by non Irish.
Could it have anything to do with getting to hug and kiss an Irish
Lass. If she looked like this sweatheart then it is no wonder that
the whole world is Irish on St. Patty's Day.
